I very much like the new print centre and plogs. I wonder whether a wind star, with drift and ground speeds, could be generated and optionally printed underneath the radio frequencies section. This would be very useful for diversions and estimating headings. If not the whole star, then the max drift somewhere on the plog - maybe at the top - would be useful.

Secondly, I use, as I suspect do others, an A5 kneeboard. I generate a plog with the two to the page option on A4 paper in landscape orientation and then fold/cut the paper to make an A5 sheet with the plog. This works fine except that the radio frequencies are just a bit too small to be usable for me. Could there be an option to change font size? Or perhaps just increase the default font size for frequencies?

Cheers

I like the wind star idea; could you do a mockup of what you would expect this to look like, and at what point on the route any applicable wind for it would be taken?

We have been meaning to change the PLOG output (when A5) so that there are only two columns displayed, because we also feel the size is too small. Haven't been able to do it yet though, but will hopefully before we release this version.

Thanks for the feedback!

Just thought I'd add another vote for the wind star. It wouldn't need to take up too much space on the plog, and could come in handy for planning a diversion.

What I'd envisaged is a circle, divided into 8 with lines for each of the major points of the compass (N, NE, E, SE, S etc...). Around the edge of the circle, for each point include a correction required to steer that course. Also useful might be the ground speed if you were flying the corrected heading. This then gives you a rough idea of how much correction you need to apply, and you can interpolate for headings between the major points if necessary.

As to what wind you use, then I'd probably calculate an 'average' wind for the route being flown. I can't see what else you can do really, other than plot one for each leg. That's going to take up some space though!
